This is a collection of works inspired by Japanese motifs and symbolism as well as Arts & Crafts design. Patterns and imagery from Asian textiles such as kimonos, obis traditionally printed fabric are often represented.
Each piece is individual and no two are the same. Made from domestic and exotic hardwoods, imagery is painted with oil and acrylic paint as well as hand-mixed stains and glazes. The grain of the wood is used as a design tool for depth and direction. Each are made up of several layers of wood that are assembled into one continuous frame.
